What if we could build a nation of creative and critical thinkers? That is the driving force behind our National Reading Month Celebration.

Reading should not be presented to children as a chore, a duty. It should be offered as a gift.

With the theme "Pagbasa ay mahalaga para sa pagkatuto at kinabukasan ng bawat batang Pilipino" (Reading is important for the learning and future of every Filipino child), the entire school community united to ignite a shared passion for reading. The campus buzzed with the magic of literacy as students and teachers engaged in a series of dynamic and thought-provoking activities.

From classroom-based initiatives like poster-making, storytelling, and slogan creation, the spirit of reading came alive as students showcased their creativity. However, the highlight of the celebration—and a cherished DVBRMHS tradition—was the literary icon dress-up contest, which featured an exciting twist this year. Participants competed in two categories: cross-gender (individual) and protagonist versus antagonist (duo). This fresh take elevated everyone’s enthusiasm to new heights. Adding to the festivities, sections 7-Magalang and 7-Mahusay delivered captivating performances through singing and speech choir presentations.

Eizen Landicho, the reigning champion in the protagonist and antagonist category, shared his thoughts: “Sa totoo lang, most of us kabataans ay mahilig sa mga pakulo. Kaya, integrating fun activities with literature ay good idea. Maraming nag-engage, almost all Victorians.” His words echoed the sentiment that blending enjoyment with education fosters greater engagement among students.

This year’s celebration transcended mere fun—it carried profound significance. It embodied DVBRMHS’s mission and vision: empowering students to reach their full potential, nurturing patriotic Filipinos, and creating a child-friendly, motivating learning environment. Through these activities, students also developed essential values such as gratitude, empathy, environmental awareness, and patriotism—qualities that define every Victorian.

By celebrating reading, DVBRMHS isn’t just opening books; it’s opening minds and paving the way for a brighter future for its students and the nation. After all, when reading is seen as a gift rather than a task, it has the power to transform lives—one page at a time.

Sa Dr. Victoria B. Roman Memorial High School, ang bawat mag-aaral ay may tinig, may pangarap, at may kinabukasan. Dito, walang maiiwanan.

Sa larangan ng edukasyon, ang pagpili ng strand ay isang mahalagang hakbang patungo sa magandang kinabukasan. Hindi lamang upang maghanda para sa susunod na kabatanata ng buhay, bagkus ito ay magsisilbing gabay tungo sa mga pangarap at tagumpay. Ang Senior High School ay hindi lamang para sa karagdagang taon ng pag-aaral, kundi isang mahalagang yugto at bilang paghahanda na rin para sa hinagarap, at naglalayong magbigay ng tamang kasanayan para sa kolehiyo, trabaho, negosyo, at iba pa. Kaya naman higit na kinakailangan nilang maunawaan kung ang strand na Accounting, Business, and Management (ABM), Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), o Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) ang nararapat nilang kuhanin at nababagay para sa kanilang kakayanan.

Bilang bahagi ng patuloy na pagpapalakas ng programa ng Senior High School sa Dr. Victoria B. Roman Memorial High School (DVBRMHS), isinagawa ng HUMSS Club ang Strand Promotional Video Contest noong Pebrero 17-19, 2025. Layunin ng patimpalak na ito na ipamalas ang halaga at mga benepisyo ng bawat strand, pati na rin ang pagbibigay Liwanag sa kahalagahan ng tamang pagpili ng landas na tatahakin ng bawat mag-aaral. Higit pa sa isang simpleng kompetisyon, ito ay isang pagpapahayag ng talento, malikhaing kaisipan, at pangarap ng mga mag-aaral ng DVBRMHS, isang patunay na ang kanilang hinaharap ay nasa kanilang sariling mga kamay.

Sa patimpalak na ito, bawat pangkat mula sa Grade 11 at 12 ay hinikayat na gumawa ng isang maikli ngunit makabuluhang promotional video na nagpapakita ng diwa at benepisyo ng kanilang napiling strand. Ang mga video ay sinuri gamit ang dalawang pangunahing batayan: 60% ng iskor ay mula sa voting likes, kung saan pinatunayan ng mga kalahok ang kanilang impluwensya sa social media sa pamamagitan ng paglikom ng pinakamaraming reaksyon sa kanilang video, at 40% ng iskor ay mula sa kalidad ng nilalaman, kung saan masusing sinuri ng mga hurado ang mensahe, malikhaing presentasyon, at epekto ng video. Ang hurado ay binubuo ng tatlong eksperto sa larangan ng edukasyon at sining, sina Bb. Jelyn V. Dela Torre, Gng. Mary Grace C. Basical, at Gng. Alijah Louise Dalde.

Matapos ang tatlong araw ng masusing deliberasyon at kumpetisyon, itinanghal ang pangkat HUMSS Rosal mula sa Baitang 12 bilang kampeon. Ang kanilang video ay nagtaglay ng masining at detalyadong paglalarawan ng mga oportunidad na hatid ng HUMSS Strand, tulad ng mga posibleng karera sa larangan ng komunikasyon, sining, pamamahala, at agham panlipunan. Ang kanilang malikhaing presentasyon ay nagbigay inspirasyon at nagpatibay sa kahalagahan ng HUMSS bilang isang strand na may malawak na saklaw at malaking potensyal sa hinaharap. Kasama ng kanilang sertipiko ng pagkapanalo, ang kanilang video ay nagbigayinspirasyon hindi lamang sa kanilang mga kaklase kundi sa buong paaralan. Ang kanilang tagumpay ay isang patunay na ang bawat strand ay may kwento, may layunin, at may magiging bunga.

Isa sa pinakamahalagang layunin ng patimpalak na ito ay palakasin ang bilang ng mag-aaral na magpapatala sa Senior High School ng DVBRMHS, gayundin ang pagpapakita sa mga magulang at mag-aaral na ang paaralang ito ay may kakayahang magbigay ng dekalidad na edukasyong magbubukas ng mas maraning oportunidad tungo sa isang maliwanay at matagumpay na kinabukasan. Sapamamagitan ng mga natatanging video na inilahad ng mga kalahok, naipinta ang makulay at masiglang diwa ng DVBRMHS, isang paaralang hindi lamang nagsisilbing tagapagturo ng kaalaman kundi isang kanlungan ng pangarap, pag-asa, at posibilidad.

Higit pa sa isang simpleng patimpalak, ang Strand promotional Video Contest ay isang paraan ng pagpapakita ng mga natatanging kakayahan ng mga mag-aaral sa DVBRMHS. Naging daan ito upang ipakita ang kahalagahan ng bawat strand at upang mahikayat ang iba pang mga magaaral na mag-enroll sa Senior High School ng paaralang ito. Isa rin itong pagkakataon upang ipakita ang makabagong paraan ng edukasyon na ginagamit sa DVBRMHS, na nagsusulong ng kahusayan at inobasyon sa pagtuturo at pagkatuto. Sa pamamagitan ng mga malikhaing video, naipamalas ng mga mag-aaral na ang DVBRMHS ay hindi lamang isang paaralan ng pagkatuto, kundi isang tahanan kung saan hinuhubog ang mga pangarap at itinataguyod ang tagumpay. Dito, bawat silid-aralan ay nagiging saksi sa pagsisikap, at bawat guro ay gabay sa pag-abot ng mga adhikain At bakit nga ba DVBRMHS? Dahil dito, hindi ka lamang mag-aaral kundi magiging bahagi ng isang pamayanan. Ikaw ay kanilang aalagaan at hindi iiwan.

Hindi lamang edukasyon ang kanilang iaalok kundi pati na rin ang mga karanasang hindi mo makalilimutan. Huhubugin ng paaralang ito ang iyong talento at pagkakaroon ng marangal na asal. Bawat hakbang na iyong gagawin, sila ang magsisilbing liwanag mo sa tuwing ikaw ay makadarama ng dilim ng pagaalinlangan. Dedicated to making the best learning environment for students, as shown through our constant renovation of the math park, regular enhancement of our facilities, Peer teaching programs, and of course, our math educators who do their best to make sure that their students learn mathematics. In our small Math Park, there are many things to see and learn. On the walls, there are math exercises that can be solved by students. Various shapes and signs can also be seen on the walls, and beautiful plants to admire. A bench where we can rest or do math-related activities. We can also hang out there with friends and teachers while studying math. When you visit the Math Park, you may find the right formula you are looking for, learn the correct use of numbers, and sharpen your problem-solving skills in math.

Math teachers and students collaborated to transform the Math Park into a vibrant learning space. They repainted walls with bright colors, added artistic math designs, and built bamboo shades for comfort. Creative decorations like numbers, shapes, and problem-solving stations enhanced the park's educational appeal. Next, we plan to create a large floor puzzle filled with math equations.

Renovations have been made to our math learning center to create a more engaging atmosphere for students. The addition of better seating arrangements—comfortable chairs, fixing the door, better station for books, and group tables- supports different learning preferences and encourages both solo and group work. These updated resources, along with access to knowledgeable staff and tutors, provide students with personalized assistance and a space to deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts.

One of our many projects is Gulayan Sa Matematika (Gardening in Mathematics). it's a program that offers a unique approach to mathematics education, seamlessly blending practical gardening activities with mathematical concepts.

The core concept involves integrating gardening projects within a park setting. Students actively apply mathematical skills. For example, measuring plot dimensions of plants length, area, and volume.

Crops harvested at the math park garden can help the school for many reasons.

First, for educational purposes. Students can learn math concepts through hands-on activities like measuring plant growth, calculating area and perimeter, or using statistics to track yields.

Second, healthy school Meals. If the crops are edible, they can be used in the school canteen to provide fresh and nutritious food. Lastly, fundraising. Selling the harvested crops can generate funds for school programs and some supplies.

Peer teaching is also one of the things that we do, it's a collaborative method in which our officers take on the role of instructors for their peers, providing an effective means of improving mathematical comprehension. Those who teach not only gain confidence but also reinforce their understanding through the process of explanation, thereby deepening their grasp of the material. Conversely, students who receive instruction find the experience to be more engaging and relatable, as the explanations tend to be more accessible and less intimidating than those provided by a traditional authority figure.

We also participated in the 5th National Vedic Mathematics Olympiad, with Johan Dale Sevilla earning a Merit Award. The Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) Encampment provided GSP-girls with opportunities to develop leadership and survival skills through outdoor activities, teamwork challenges, and more.

The Hip-Hop Dance Competition served as a creative platform for Grade 10 students who are passionate about dancing, allowing them to showcase their talent, discipline, and stage presence.
