A Milestone for DVBRMHS: The Inauguration and Blessing of the New Covered Court

A Milestone for DVRMHS: The Inauguration and Blessing of the New Covered Court

The morning of December 16, 2025 unfolded with a sense of excitement and reverence at Dr. Victoria B. Roman Memorial High School as the entire community gathered for the Holy Mass, Blessing, and Inauguration of the new School Covered Court. After months of anticipation, the structure finally stood complete—a proud symbol of progress, partnership, and hope for the learners of DVRMHS.

The ceremony opened with a Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Gerald S. Cuenca, OSJ. His homily reminded the community that every physical structure built within a school becomes more than concrete and steel; it becomes a vessel for learning, a shelter for dreams, and a testament to shared faith. His words gently echoed through the newly finished court, setting a solemn and heartfelt tone for the day’s celebration.

Following the Mass, Rev. Fr. Cuenca proceeded to bless the covered court. As he walked through the space, sprinkling holy water on its beams and floor, students and teachers watched with admiration and gratitude. The blessing felt symbolic—an invitation for protection, unity, and success to fill every future event that would take place under its roof.

Soon after, the ribbon-cutting ceremony commenced. Representing the school was Dr. Angelo R. Basilio, who welcomed the guests with warm and inspiring remarks. He spoke of the significance of the new facility and expressed profound gratitude for the unwavering support of government and community partners. His message captured the moment perfectly: this covered court was not just a structure, but a shared achievement.

Present in the event was Municipal Councilor Rafael Alcantara, who stood on behalf of Mayor Carlos F. Pizarro, Jr. In delivering the mayor’s message, he emphasized the municipal government’s continuing dedication to ensuring that schools in Pilar thrive. His words affirmed that education remains a priority—a foundation for both individual and community progress.

The celebration also welcomed Barangay Chairman Randel V. Torres of Pantingan, whose message underscored the barangay’s steadfast support for the school. His presence reflected the strong relationship between DVRMHS and its surrounding community, a connection built on cooperation and shared aspirations for the youth.

Representing Governor Jose Enrique S. Garcia III was Hon. Romeo A. Austria, Provincial Board Member. The provincial message highlighted how the provincial government remains committed to enhancing school facilities across Bataan. The inauguration of the covered court was a powerful testament to that commitment. It stood as clear evidence of the province’s dedication to provide safe, functional spaces where students could learn, play, and gather without fear of harsh weather conditions.

As the program drew to a close, Faculty President Nathaniel T. Dalde delivered heartfelt closing remarks. He spoke not only as a teacher but as a representative of a faculty that deeply appreciates the new space—a venue where teachers can guide, students can grow, and the community can come together in unity.

The celebration marked a turning point for DVRMHS. For years, school activities were often disrupted by sudden rain or intense heat, forcing programs to be relocated or postponed. With the new covered court, the school now has a safe and spacious area where events can continue uninterrupted. Students will no longer worry about getting drenched during practices, and assemblies will not be hindered by unpredictable weather. The structure promises convenience, comfort, and continuity for everyone.

As the applause faded and guests began to move around the court, the atmosphere remained filled with gratitude. The inauguration was not merely a ceremonial event—it was a moment of collective triumph. The covered court represents hope made visible, a gift from leaders and partners who believe in the potential of the school and its learners.

In the years ahead, this covered court will witness countless ceremonies, competitions, celebrations, and stories. It will become a place where memories are created and where the spirit of community continues to thrive. For Dr. Victoria B. Roman Memorial High School, December 16, 2025 will forever be remembered as the day a new chapter began—one built on collaboration, faith, and a shared dream for a brighter future.
